Microwaved Masala Papri / Crackers .


One of my friend was visiting today and we were talking about all the street foods which we miss being far away from our country.
One of our all time favorites is chaat papdi .Paapri Chaat is a north Indian fast food .
It is served with boiled potatoes, boiled chick peas, chilis, yogurt and tamarind chutney and topped with chaat masala .
While talking we decided to experiment baking them in the microwave and were very pleased with the outcome .

So here’s our version of masala papdi for you all to enjoy!!!


1/2 cup maida / All purpose flour
1 tsp teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds)
1 tsp or to taste salt
1 tsp red chilli powder or red chilli flakes
1/4 tsp Haldi powder/ Turmeric powder
1 tsp amchur/dry mango powder
1 tbs oil

Method :
Mix all the ingredients and Using very little water knead them into firm dough .keep aside for 5 mins .
Divide the dough into equal parts and roll each portion into small size puris/discs , around (1½”) in diameter.
Place puris on a microwave safe dish taking care that the puris do not touch each other.
Prick the surface of each puri lightly with a fork and microwave on high for 1 minute.
Repeat the same for other puris on another microwave safe dish.
let it cool completely and store in airtight container .
You can make it more healthy by trying with wheat flour, but it would not be as crisp as all purpose flour ones.
This can be used in dahi papdi chaat , Savpuri , bhel puri or can be topped with chopped onions, tomatoes, mint and tamarind chutney
