Mutton curry cooked in Clay Pot …

There’s nothing complicated about cooking in clay pots . Traditional clay cooking pots are used all over the world . Some clay pots were traditionally used on top of the stove. I especially love cooking in clay pot as food cooks with a minimum of liquid and very less fat. I like the fact that You only use one pot for the whole meal and meats cook especially well in clay cookers because they have a tendency to stay moist and juicy.

Ok now let’s go the the preparation of this Goat’s curry .

    1. yeah it’s kind of hard to find them… after a lot of searching, I got mine from Miriams Earthen Cookware (online). Love the way food turns out in these pots. And the food is also nutritionally dense. their pots are made without any additives to the clay, not even glaze so they’re made from tested, pure clay.

      1. Hi Shailja, thanks so much for the recipe, cant wait to try it!

Sonal, Try MEC or Miriams Earthen Cookware. I got some of them — love the way they cook all my food. And they look far better. They’re unglazed and made from pure-clay i.e clay that has no contaminants added. Lot of manufacturers add various chemicals for ease of making and fast drying etc. These are made with nothing added.

    1. Indu this clay pot is not the traditional chatti we get in Kerala for fish . I was told that this will crack on direct heat , so decided to use it in the oven .

  1. Hi, I’m finding it so difficult to find tandoor/clay pot curry recipes. Can you advise how long I would cook a curry in the oven and temperature? If you have any recipes or advice that would be great. I have just received a terracotta clay pot as a gift.
