Raksha Bandhan in Sanskrit literally means “the tie or knot of protection”.
Rakhi’ is a special occasion to celebrate bond of love between a brother and a sister where she ties a holy thread around her brother’s wrist.
On this day sisters tie the sacred Rakhi string on their brothers’ right wrists, and pray for their long life & in return, the brother ritually pledges to protect and take care of his sister under all circumstances & brothers pamper their sisters and present them with beautiful gifts .
About a month before the commencement of raksha bandhan, you can see fancy and colorful rakhis in every market.
Rakhis are ideally made of silk with gold and silver threads, beautifully crafted embroidered sequins, and studded with semi precious stones.

Madhya Pradesh AND Uttar Pradesh
Lets start with Uttar Pradesh first :
The cuisine of Uttar Pradesh is just as diverse as its geography. The state is famous for its royally delicious Nawabi food which is very different from the classic Mughlai food of Delhi.

Jalebi is a melt-in-the-mouth Indian sweet and can best be described as funnel cakes. This sweet is served warm or cold. They have a somewhat chewy texture with a crystallized sugary exterior coating.

The cuisine in Madhya Pradesh has a small tinge of Rajasthani and Gujrati cuisines. Earlier, Jowar was the most important cereal here. But now, Wheat is the staple food of Madhya Pradesh. Major share of the dishes in the state are vegetarian.
Non veg lovers are also in for a great time in Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal is the place where you will find few of the most delicious meat and fish items. The most favored is the spicy rogan josh that will make you crave for more after you have it once. Other delectable non veg items that made their mark in the hearts of many foodaholics are korma, seekh kabbab and shami kabbab.
How can we not talk about Indore, the street food capital of India. Evenings at the famous streets like Sarafa Bazaar and Chhappan Dukaan is a dream come true for snack and sweet lovers.
